Privacy Policy — Voy.do

Last updated: February 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Voy.do collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Voy.do website/landing and mobile app.

By using the Site or App, you agree to this policy.

This Policy is published in several languages. In the event of any discrepancy between versions, the Spanish version shall prevail.

1) Controller and contact

Data controller: Voy.do

Location: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Contact email (privacy): hello@voy.do

2) Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: (a) what you give us, (b) what is generated automatically when you use the service, and (c) what comes from technical providers (SDKs/services) needed to operate Voy.do.

2.1 Information you provide

a) Newsletter (Site)

  • Email (and any other data you voluntarily add to the form).
  • Communication preferences (where applicable).

b) Account and profile (App)

  • Email and sign-in credentials (the password is handled securely; it is not stored in plain text).
  • Profile data you choose: name/alias, profile photo, bio, etc.
  • Social relationships: friend requests/status, groups, followers/following, likes.

c) Content in the App

  • Messages sent in group chats.
  • Information you post or share in the App (for example, interactions with events).

Important: we apply reasonable security measures to protect messages, including encryption in transit and access controls.

2.2 Information collected automatically

a) Technical and usage data

  • Device and App information (for example, model, operating system, App version).
  • Technical logs relating to security, performance, abuse prevention, and debugging.
  • Usage analytics data (for example, screens viewed, actions within the App), mainly to improve the product and understand performance.

b) Notifications

If you enable notifications, we process your push notification token and preferences (which types of notifications you want to receive).

2.3 Location (foreground only)

The App may request access to precise location in the foreground for features such as discovering nearby events, showing event/venue maps, and coordinating on-site experiences.

We do not request background location.

2.4 Location shared with friends and groups (by consent)

Location is not public.

  1. You decide to enable the location sharing option.
  2. You are in a group made up of previously added friends (not strangers).

You can turn location sharing off at any time and it will stop being shared immediately from that moment onwards.

3) How we use your information

We use your information to:

  1. Provide the service: create an account, sign in, keep your session active, and let you use Voy.do's features.
  2. Events and maps: show you nearby events, venue locations, and interactive maps.
  3. On-site experience: enable foreground location-based features.
  4. Social and groups: enable friendships, group creation and administration, likes/follows, and coordination with your circle.
  5. Chat: send, receive, and store group messages to enable communication between members.
  6. Notifications: send you notifications about activity and events, according to your preferences.
  7. Newsletter (Site): send you communications if you subscribe, and let you unsubscribe.
  8. Security and compliance: prevent fraud/abuse, enforce rules, respond to legal requests.
  9. Product improvement: analytics and technical diagnostics to improve stability and experience.

4) Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information.

  • Hosting/storage (AWS).
  • Maps (Google Maps and Mapbox).
  • Push notifications (Expo Push and operating system services).

These providers process data solely to deliver the services we use.

4.2 With other users (only what is necessary)

  • Your profile (based on what you fill in).
  • Your group membership.
  • Your social activity (for example, likes/follows).
  • Messages inside group chats.

Shared location: it is shared only with members of the relevant group when you enable it, and under the friends + groups model (not public).

4.3 Legal requests and protection

  • Comply with a legal obligation or a valid order.
  • Investigate or prevent fraud/abuse.
  • Protect the rights, safety, and property of Voy.do, our users, or third parties.

5) Data retention

We apply minimisation: we keep data only for as long as necessary to operate Voy.do.

  • Account and profile data: kept while your account is active.
  • Account deletion: you can delete your account from the App. When you do, we delete or anonymise your personal information, normally within 30 days, except for what we must keep for legal/security reasons and backup copies for a limited period.
  • Location and on-site data (events): kept for as long as necessary to operate location features, security, support, and legal compliance.
  • Group messages: kept for as long as necessary for social features, moderation/security, support, and legal compliance.
  • Newsletter: we keep your email until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

6) Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect information, including encryption in transit, access controls, data minimisation, and security monitoring.

Even so, no system is 100% secure.
